Delhi Assembly Examines Breach of Privilege
Some BJP members in the Delhi government are very upset with Atishi, the leader of the opposition party AAP.
They say she disrespected a important Sikh leader, Guru Tegh Bahadur, in the assembly.
Because of this, they protested and demanded that she should not be allowed to be in the assembly anymore.
Atishi says the BJP is lying and is using the Guru's name for their own benefit.
The assembly had to stop its work twice because of the protest and will meet again tomorrow to talk about this issue.
The Speaker has ordered a forensic probe into the video that started the controversy, and the report is expected within 15 days.
Additionally, the Speaker has referred a breach of privilege case against AAP MLA Jarnail Singh to the Committee of Privileges for examination.
BJP MLAs protested in the Delhi Assembly, demanding the cancellation of Atishi's House membership for alleged disrespect to Guru Tegh Bahadur.
Atishi accused the BJP of lying and misusing the Guru's name, claiming they added a false subtitle and inserted the Guru's name into a video.
The Speaker adjourned the House twice and ordered a forensic probe into the video, with the report to be submitted within 15 days.
AAP MLA Gopal Rai demanded the original video recording of Atishi's statement and claimed the BJP was creating a ruckus to avoid discussing Delhi's pollution.
BJP ministers submitted a letter to the Speaker, demanding a criminal case against Atishi and the revocation of her membership.
The Delhi Assembly will examine a breach of privilege and contempt of the House by AAP MLA Jarnail Singh.
The matter was referred to the Committee of Privileges by Speaker Vijender Gupta.
