Actress Ranya Rao's Arrest Info Communicated in Prison, Court Told
A famous actress, Ranya Rao, was arrested because she was caught trying to smuggle gold and avoid paying taxes on it.
The court was told that even though she is in jail, she was properly informed about why she was arrested.
Special officials went to the jail and showed her all the information, which was on a special computer file.
Because jail rules didn't let them give her the file directly, they showed it to her and got her to sign a statement.
They also gave a copy to her lawyer.
The court also heard that another person involved, Tarun Raju, helped find ways to get gold and was part of a diamond company used for selling it.
They are both being held under a special law that can keep them in jail for up to a year, even if they get bail.

Additional Solicitor General (ASG) informed the Karnataka High Court that actress Ranya Rao was properly informed of her arrest reasons in a gold smuggling case.
Ranya Rao was arrested on March 3 at Bengaluru airport for allegedly strapping smuggled gold on her body, attempting to evade customs duty of Rs 4.83 crore.
Detention orders for Ranya Rao and co-accused Tarun Konduru Raju were issued under the Cofeposa Act by the Central Economic Intelligence Bureau.
ASG stated that officials played the grounds of detention from a pen drive to Ranya Rao in prison and obtained a signed acknowledgement.
The alleged role of Tarun Raju in sourcing gold and his partnership in Veera Diamonds was highlighted as significant to the smuggling chain.
