Mumbai Agent Apologises Over 'Vegetarians Only' Rs 6.5 Crore Flat
A person who sells houses in Mumbai made a video about a very big and expensive apartment.
The apartment costs 6.5 crore rupees, which is a huge amount of money.
In the video, he said only people who do not eat meat could buy the home.
Many people saw the video and got upset.
They said it is unfair to choose who can buy a home based on what they eat.
The video was watched almost 300,000 times and got more than 1,600 comments.
Because so many people complained, the man took the video down.
He later said sorry and explained that the person who owns the flat wanted only vegetarian buyers.
He said the owner follows the Warkari tradition and may have religious reasons.
This started a big conversation in Mumbai about whether food choices should decide where people can live.
Mumbai estate agent Bhavesh Kaware deleted a video listing a nearly completed two-BHK flat in Tardeo for Rs 6.50 crore to 'pure vegetarian' buyers only.
The 900-square-feet South Mumbai apartment drew nearly three lakh views and more than 1,600 comments before the post was removed.
Shinde Sena youth leader Gurjyot Singh Keer criticised the vegetarian-only condition and questioned the exclusion of non-vegetarian buyers.
Kaware apologised, saying the condition was the flat owner's criteria since the owner is a Warkari vegetarian with possible religious reasons.
The agent said the video was misinterpreted and that he did not mean to hurt non-vegetarians, while also referring to Keer as 'Parprantiya' (migrant).

Critics: Food Choices Are Private
Owner & Agent: Religious Preference
Vegetarian-only sale condition
Critics: Food Choices Are Private
Excluding non-vegetarian buyers from housing is social discrimination, and nobody can monitor what a family eats after purchase.
Owner & Agent: Religious Preference
The condition came from the flat owner, a Warkari vegetarian, whose religious beliefs justify selling only to vegetarians.
Agent's video and apology
Critics: Food Choices Are Private
The listing openly dictated food preferences and reflects a wider pattern of housing discrimination in Mumbai, including Ghatkopar, Mulund, Kandivali and Powai.
Owner & Agent: Religious Preference
The video was misinterpreted; the agent apologised and noted that vegetarianism is practised by Maharashtrian communities such as Malkaris, Warkaris and Brahmins.
'Parprantiya' (migrant) remark
Critics: Food Choices Are Private
Calling a critic a migrant dismisses legitimate concerns about discriminatory housing practices.
Owner & Agent: Religious Preference
Kaware argued that vegetarianism is rooted in Maharashtrian communities, so criticism from an 'outsider' was misplaced.
