Delhi-Bihar pocket-friendly travel: 50 interstate buses to launch for Chhath
The Delhi government wants to start new buses that travel from Delhi to six cities in Bihar.
This will happen around the time of Chhath, a big festival for people from that region.
Chhath is a Hindu festival dedicated to the Sun God Surya and Chhathi Maiya.
Many people travel home for the festival, so the new buses are meant to help them.
More than 50 new buses are planned.
The buses are called deluxe semi-sleeper buses, and some will have air conditioning while others will not.
The buses will go through Uttar Pradesh, passing places like Noida, Lucknow, Mathura, and Azamgarh.
The trip is about 1,000 kilometers long.
The government wants people to share their opinions about the plan before September 5.
After that, Delhi and Bihar will sign an agreement to make the service official.
The Delhi government plans to operate interstate bus services to six cities in Bihar starting this Chhath.
Over 50 deluxe semi-sleeper buses, in both AC and non-AC categories, are planned, according to Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh.
Delhi and Bihar are set to sign a Reciprocal Transport Agreement as part of the next phase of interstate bus rollout.
The Transport department released a draft agreement for public comments, with feedback accepted until September 5.
The buses will pass through Uttar Pradesh — including Noida, Lucknow, Mathura and Azamgarh — covering nearly 1,000 km on average.
