LG Saxena lays foundation for bridges in Ladakh
The Lt Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, recently laid the foundation stones for two important bridges in the Nubra Valley.
These bridges, the Burma–Sumoor Bridge and the Tongsted Bridge, will make it easier for people to travel and connect with nearby villages.
The Burma–Sumoor Bridge will cut the distance between Sumoor and several villages from about 70 km to just 500 meters.
The Tongsted Bridge will provide reliable all-weather connectivity to remote villages.
These projects are part of the Special Development Package by the UT Administration and aim to improve the quality of life for people in the border areas.
The bridges will also help boost tourism and create new job opportunities for local youth.
The total cost of the projects is Rs 64.10 crore for the Burma–Sumoor Bridge and Rs 19.29 crore for the Tongsted Bridge.
