Nifty50 CEO Pay Dips 10% in FY25 Due to Tech Cuts, New Entrants
The pay for top bosses at India's biggest companies (Nifty50) went down by about 10% this year.
This was mainly because some tech companies, like Wipro and Tech Mahindra, cut their CEO's pay a lot.
New companies joining the index, like Eternal, also brought the average down.
While some CEOs got big raises, the overall trend was downward.
Even though the pay went down, it's still higher than a couple of years ago.
The combined profits of these companies went up, even as CEO pay changed.
Average CEO pay in Nifty50 companies decreased by 10.3% to ₹25.1 crore in FY25.
Sharp pay cuts at Wipro and Tech Mahindra significantly contributed to the decline.
Eternal and Bharat Electronics' inclusion in the Nifty50 index also impacted the average pay.
Larsen & Toubro and Mahindra & Mahindra saw the most substantial increases in CEO compensation.
Despite the decrease, average CEO pay is still higher than FY23 but lower than FY24 levels.
