Bondi Beach Terror Attack Sparks Gun Law Review
On December 14, 2025, a terrible shooting happened at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.
It was during a celebration called Hanukkah, which is important to Jewish people.
Many people were hurt, and 16 people died.
The police think one of the attackers was a 24-year-old man named Naveed Akram, who is from Pakistan, and his father, Sajid Akram.
A brave man named Ahmed al Ahmed, who sells fruit, stopped one of the attackers and saved many lives.
The Australian Prime Minister said this was a very bad act of terrorism and hate.
The police are still investigating, and they found some dangerous things in a car nearby.
After the attack, many cities around the world, like Berlin, London, and New York, increased security for their Hanukkah events to keep people safe.
Everyone is very sad, and people are saying this kind of hate and violence should not happen in Australia.
Some people say the government did not do enough to stop the hate before it happened.
Now, the government is thinking about making gun laws even stricter to prevent such attacks in the future.
A terrorist attack at Bondi Beach during Hanukkah celebrations resulted in 16 deaths and 40 injuries.
Suspects identified as Naveed Akram (24) and his father Sajid Akram (50), with Naveed allegedly pledging allegiance to ISIS.
Ahmed al Ahmed, a 43-year-old fruit seller, tackled one of the gunmen, saving many lives, and was hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the attack as a targeted act of antisemitism and terrorism and proposed a review of gun laws.
Police confirmed two suspects: one dead (Sajid Akram), the other (Naveed Akram) in critical condition, with explosive devices found and removed from a nearby vehicle.
