Students Name Asteroid After School Collapse Victims
Some students in India discovered four asteroids a few years ago.
Sadly, seven children died when their school building collapsed.
The students who found the asteroids want to name one of them after the children who died.
They made a special name by using the first letters of each child's name.
The name is PRAMISHKA, and it will orbit the Sun forever.
The students and their teacher think this is a way to remember the children and make science important.
They need permission from a big science group to make the name official.
Students from Jhalawar discovered four asteroids during 2020-2021 as part of the IASC-NASA Asteroid Search Campaign.
Seven children died in a school building collapse in July 2025, with 27 others seriously injured.
The students proposed naming one of the discovered asteroids 'PRAMISHKA' in memory of the deceased children.
The name PRAMISHKA is formed from the initials of the seven victims: Payal, Priyanka, Meena, Harish, Kundan, Kanha, and Satish.
The final approval for the name rests with the International Astronomical Union.
