Bengal BJP Accuses Opposition of Provoking Unrest During Bypolls

The BJP said some opposition leaders were making statements that could increase tension during elections in West Bengal.

BJP spokesperson Debjit Sarkar asked the Election Commission to help keep voting fair and peaceful.

People were voting in by-elections in Nandigram and Rejinagar.

By 1 p.m., more than 58 out of every 100 voters had voted.

Some people alleged that protests and blockades were making it harder for voters to reach the polls.

Sarkar said those with complaints should give specific evidence to the Election Commission.

He also criticized Congress for asking for a re-poll before the results were announced.

The article does not include a response from the opposition to the BJP’s accusations.
