Faridabad Education Officer Retracts 'Love Jihad' Letter, Cites Clerical Error
Imagine a school boss in a city called Faridabad sent a letter to all schools.
The letter told them to watch out for students who skip class to do bad things, like something called 'love jihad.'
But then, the boss realized a mistake happened.
Someone in their office just copied a complaint without really checking it.
The boss said there's no 'love jihad' happening and the letter was a big oopsie, a 'clerical error.'
So, they quickly took the letter back.
They also told schools to make special phone groups with parents to keep track of who is in school and who is not, just to be sure everyone is where they should be.
Faridabad District Education Officer (DEO) Anshu Singla retracted a letter that instructed schools to monitor students for 'love jihad' activities.
The DEO stated the letter was issued due to a 'clerical oversight' and that there is no instance of 'love jihad' in the district.
The original letter, issued on Wednesday, was based on a complaint received on the Haryana CM Window portal.
Singla explained that clerical staff copied the allegations and heading verbatim from the complaint without proper verification.
The retracted letter had also directed schools to create WhatsApp groups with parents to mark daily attendance.
