CJI Calls Supreme Court Banyan Tree Of Environmental Justice

Chief Justice Surya Kant spoke at an international environmental conference.

He compared the Supreme Court to a large banyan tree that protects environmental justice.

He said pollution and other environmental problems do not stop at borders.

Because of this, different courts and jurisdictions need to work together.

He explained that courts should not treat nature protection and development as complete opposites.

Instead, they should look for ways to support both.

The goal is to protect the environment while allowing responsible development.

This approach should help make both conservation and development last over time.
