PGI Performs First Renal Denervation for Hypertension
Doctors at PGIMER in Chandigarh did a special procedure called Renal Denervation for the first time to help a 48-year-old man with very high blood pressure.
The man had been taking many medicines, but his blood pressure stayed too high.
The doctors watched him closely for two weeks and tried different treatments, but nothing worked well.
Since the man was still young, the doctors decided to try this new procedure, which uses a tiny tube to help control his blood pressure without surgery.
This is a big step forward in treating high blood pressure.
PGIMER performed the first Renal Denervation (RDN) procedure for uncontrolled hypertension.
The procedure was conducted on a 48-year-old patient with persistently high blood pressure despite multiple medications.
Dr. Saurabh Mehrotra performed the procedure under the supervision of Dr. Yash Paul Sharma.
The patient was observed for two weeks with optimal medical therapy before the procedure.
Renal Denervation is a minimally invasive, catheter-based procedure.
