Music Charts Ban Fully AI-Generated Songs Under New Rules
A country has introduced new rules for its music charts.
Songs made entirely by artificial intelligence cannot qualify for the charts.
Musicians can still use AI to help create music.
AI can have a supporting role in an otherwise human-made recording.
ARIA says qualifying recordings must be substantially made by people.
The recording must also avoid concerns about manipulating streams or chart results.
The rules are meant to set limits on how AI-made music enters the charts.
The report does not identify when the rules began or name the country.
Fully AI-generated songs are barred from eligibility for the country’s music charts.
Musicians may still use AI as part of the music-making process.
Recordings using generative AI in a supporting role can remain eligible.
ARIA says AI-involved recordings must be “substantially human made.”
Eligible recordings must not raise concerns about streaming or chart manipulation.
