EPFO Speeds Claim Settlements, Aims for 72-Hour Processing
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is getting better at paying out money to its members quickly.
Almost half of the requests to withdraw money are being processed in just three days.
The EPFO is working to speed up the process for everyone.
The goal is to handle all claims within 72 hours.
They're increasing the amount of money that can be automatically processed, up to Rs 5 lakh.
This should help speed things up even more.
They're also working to improve the handling of old records to further streamline the process.
EPFO settled nearly 50% of claims, mainly withdrawals, within three days this fiscal year.
The EPFO aims to settle all claims within 72 hours.
68.96 lakh claims were settled within 3 days between April 1, 2024, and June 5, 2024.
The automated claims settlement limit is set to increase from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
EPFO has over seven crore contributing members.
