Daily freight train sought for Anantapur exports
The District Collector of Anantapur asked the railway officials to start a daily freight train from Tadipatri to Delhi and Mumbai.
This train would help transport fruits and vegetables grown in Anantapur to markets and ports.
The district grows a lot of sweet lime, bananas, mangoes, pomegranates, and watermelons.
Right now, some of these fruits are sent to other states and even exported to other countries.
A special train would make it easier and faster to send these fruits, which would help the farmers earn more money.
The railway officials said they will talk to more people and make a plan to start this train service.
Anantapur District Collector requested a daily freight train from Tadipatri to Delhi and Mumbai for horticulture exports.
Anantapur produces 19,22,282 metric tonnes of horticulture crops annually, including sweet lime, banana, mango, pomegranate, and watermelon.
The district exports 1,87,104 metric tonnes of produce, generating Rs 3,470 crore in value.
A dedicated freight train would improve transportation efficiency and reduce transit losses.
Railway officials will discuss with exporters and traders to prepare a detailed action plan for the service.
