Indian Govts. Provide Subsidy to Mango Farmers
Imagine farmers growing yummy Totapuri mangoes.
Because the market prices were low, they weren't making enough money.
The government stepped in to help!
Both the central and state governments are giving money to the farmers for each kilo of mangoes they sell.
This helps them earn more and keep farming.
The governments are working together to give money.
It's like getting a special discount for the mangoes.
Now the farmers can recover their investment.
This is happening in Andhra Pradesh, and the money is coming soon!
The Central government approved a Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for Totapuri mangoes, along with the Andhra Pradesh government.
The combined subsidy amounts to Rs 3.72 per kg, with the state covering the remaining Rs 0.28 to fulfill the initially promised Rs 4 per kg.
The subsidy aims to support Totapuri mango farmers in the erstwhile Chittoor district due to poor market prices.
The total support for growers in the region is expected to exceed Rs 176 crore, with contributions from both the Centre and the state.
The state government chose not to impose restrictions from the Centre's MIS guidelines, allowing larger subsidies for some farmers.
