Sports Governance Bill Introduced for Transparency and Oversight
The government has proposed a new bill to change how sports are run in the country.
It wants a special board to make the rules and watch over sports groups.
There will also be a court to solve problems, like who gets picked for teams.
The bill will allow older leaders to stay in their positions longer if international rules allow it.
Also, sports groups will have to share information with the public.
This is to make sports better, help athletes, and prepare for the 2036 Olympics.
Sports Minister introduced the National Sports Governance Bill in Lok Sabha.
The bill proposes a National Sports Board (NSB) to oversee sports federations.
The bill includes a National Sports Tribunal with civil court powers for dispute resolution.
Age cap for administrators is relaxed, allowing those aged 70-75 to contest elections if permitted.
Recognized national sports bodies will be subject to the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
