Courts Award Compensation for Road Accident Victims
Two different courts in India have given money to people who were hurt or whose family members died in car accidents.
In one case, a man's mother got Rs 1.3 crore because her son died when a car hit his scooter.
The court said the car driver was driving too fast and not carefully, so he was at fault.
The insurance company tried to say the man wasn't wearing a helmet, but the court said that didn't matter.
In another case, a man got Rs 51.49 lakh because he was hurt badly by a truck inside a factory.
The court said the truck driver was driving carelessly and was responsible.
Both courts made the insurance companies pay the money to help the victims.
The Bombay High Court upheld a Rs 1.3 crore compensation for the mother of a man who died in a road accident.
The Delhi Motor Accident Claims Tribunal awarded Rs 51.49 lakh to a man who suffered 70% permanent disability after being hit by a truck.
In both cases, the courts found the drivers negligent and responsible for the accidents.
The Bombay High Court rejected the insurance company's argument about the victim not wearing a helmet.
The Delhi tribunal based its decision on the victim's testimony and documentary evidence, including the FIR and medical records.
