EPFO Tests UPI Provident Fund Withdrawals as Wage Ceiling Rises

EPFO Tests UPI Provident Fund Withdrawals as Wage Ceiling Rises

EPFO manages provident fund savings for workers.

It has started testing a way for people to withdraw some of their savings using UPI.

The service was still being tested, and a launch was expected by the end of December.

The proposed service could let people take out up to 75% of their eligible balance, while 25% stays in the account.

People would still need to meet the withdrawal rules.

Separately, the Cabinet raised the wage ceiling used for provident fund coverage from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000.

This change is expected to bring 51 lakh more employees under mandatory coverage.

For some workers, the monthly contribution could increase from ₹1,800 to ₹3,000.
