EPFO Tests UPI Provident Fund Withdrawals as Wage Ceiling Rises
EPFO manages provident fund savings for workers.
It has started testing a way for people to withdraw some of their savings using UPI.
The service was still being tested, and a launch was expected by the end of December.
The proposed service could let people take out up to 75% of their eligible balance, while 25% stays in the account.
People would still need to meet the withdrawal rules.
Separately, the Cabinet raised the wage ceiling used for provident fund coverage from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000.
This change is expected to bring 51 lakh more employees under mandatory coverage.
For some workers, the monthly contribution could increase from ₹1,800 to ₹3,000.
