Monkey Menace Threatens Residents and Farming in Karimnagar

Monkey Menace Threatens Residents and Farming in Karimnagar

People in the Karimnagar area say monkeys are causing trouble in their villages and damaging farms.

Some people have been hurt during encounters with monkeys.

A 50-year-old woman died after falling while trying to get away from them.

Farmers say they are growing fewer vegetables and other crops because monkeys damage them.

One farmer said he now grows vegetables on two acres instead of four or five.

Some residents use pictures of langurs or solar fencing to try to keep monkeys away.

Local leaders have also paid monkey catchers to remove monkeys.

But one village leader says the monkeys keep increasing, and he wants the government to find a lasting solution.
