Officials to Assess Malnutrition Issues in Melghat
Some important officials are going to visit a place called Melghat in Amravati to see why many babies are dying because they don't have enough food.
The court is worried because there aren't enough doctors or nurses there.
The officials will check the hospitals and places where babies and moms get food.
They will also see if there is enough electricity and good food for the babies and moms.
The court wants them to write a report about what they find.
They also want to know if they can give more money to the local people so they don't have to ask for it from the big city all the time.
Top officials from multiple state departments will visit Melghat on December 5 to assess malnutrition issues.
The Bombay High Court directed the visit due to concerns over lack of health infrastructure and malnutrition-linked deaths.
Officials will visit community institutions like anganwadi centers and primary health care centers.
Between April and October 2023, 35 infants died and 22 were stillborn in Melghat, with 38 health posts vacant.
Concerns include lack of specialists, electricity supply, quality nutrition, and limited sonography facilities.
