ED Opposes Bail After Coordinated Attack on Officials
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is a government agency that looks for money crimes.
In May 2026, they searched the house of former Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
After the search, a mob attacked the ED vehicles, hurting some officers.
The ED says this was a planned, organized attack, not a normal protest.
They asked the court to deny bail to the accused, saying many people were involved and that the attack was meant to stop the investigation.
The people involved in the case, including Vijayan’s daughter and the sand‑mining company, say nothing was wrong and the money was for real work.
The court is still deciding what to do.
The Enforcement Directorate opposed a bail plea for a person accused of attacking its officials after a May 27, 2026 search at former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s residence.
ED claims the attack was a coordinated and organised assault following a multi‑hour search linked to alleged payments from sand‑mining firm Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd to Vijayan’s daughter’s firm, Exalogic Solutions.
The ED alleges about 300 people were involved, many still unidentified or absconding, and that the mob used dangerous weapons to obstruct the investigation.
The accused’s bail was denied by the Kerala High Court, with the ED arguing the assault was not a spontaneous protest but a politically coordinated attack.
Vijayan’s daughter and CMRL deny wrongdoing, claiming the payments were legitimate commercial arrangements.
