Cipla Q3 Profit Drops 57% Amid Costs
Cipla, a big pharmaceutical company, recently announced that its profit for the third quarter of the financial year 2026 (Q3FY26) decreased by 57% compared to the same period last year.
This drop in profit was mainly due to a one-time expense related to new labour laws and a temporary halt in production at one of its important manufacturing facilities.
The company's total revenue, however, remained nearly the same as last year at ₹7,074.48 crore.
Despite these challenges, Cipla's revenue for the first nine months of the fiscal year increased by 3.9% compared to last year.
The company also made some new investments, including acquiring a stake in another healthcare company.
Overall, while the quarter was tough, Cipla is still doing well in its core business areas and continues to invest in growth.
Cipla's consolidated revenue for Q3 FY26 remained steady at ₹7,074.48 crore, nearly unchanged from the previous year.
Net profit dropped sharply by 57% year-on-year to ₹674.25 crore due to a one-time provision towards revised gratuity and leave liability norms under the new labour code.
Total expenses rose by 13.6% year-on-year to ₹6,111.80 crore, with material costs and employee expenses being key contributors.
Cipla completed the acquisition of Inzpera Healthscience for ₹110.65 crore and paid ₹1,107.28 crore for perpetual rights to Galvus brands.
For the nine months ended December 2025, Cipla posted a 3.9% year-on-year increase in revenue to ₹21,621.39 crore, but net profit declined to ₹3,319.23 crore.
