Railway Stocks Rally Ahead of Budget 2026
Railway stocks in India are going up a lot just before the Union Budget 2026.
This has been happening for the past five years.
Companies like RVNL and IRFC have seen big gains, especially as the Budget date gets closer.
Jupiter Wagons had the biggest jump, with its shares going up by 37% in just five days.
The government also increased train fares, which will help the railways make more money.
Even though the stocks are doing better now, they are still not as high as they were last year.
Investors think the government will spend more on railways, making these stocks more valuable.
Railway stocks added Rs 66,500 crore in market value over five trading sessions ahead of the Union Budget 2026.
Jupiter Wagons led the rally with a 37% jump, followed by RVNL (27%) and IRFC (20%).
Indian Railways revised passenger fares, marking the second fare hike in FY26, expected to bring in Rs 600 crore in additional revenue.
Passenger train operations run at a loss, with fares estimated to be 45% below cost, subsidized through freight earnings.
The rally is driven by investor expectations of government focus on railway infrastructure, fare hikes, and company-specific developments.
