Bapatla District Bans Tobacco Cultivation for a Year
Imagine farmers in Bapatla growing a certain kind of tobacco.
The government has decided to stop them from growing it for a year because of problems in the tobacco market.
The District Collector, like the boss of the area, said no more tobacco.
They want the farmers to try growing other things instead.
The government is helping by making sure they have the right supplies.
They have also created teams to make sure everyone follows the rules and that no one tries to cheat by hiding the tobacco or overcharging for fertilizers.
Bapatla district in Andhra Pradesh has imposed a one-year ban on Black Burley and White Burley tobacco cultivation.
The ban was announced by the District Collector, J. Venkata Murali, citing G.O. No. 740.
Farmers are directed to switch to alternative crops, with support for alternative crops being provided.
Enforcement teams have been formed at various levels to ensure compliance.
