Youth Leader Resigns From Congress Over Seat Dispute
A leader named Abid Abbas Sayyed quit the Congress party because he felt they were unfair to his community.
He wanted his wife to run for a seat in the local elections, but the party gave it to another group instead.
He said this shows the party doesn't care about giving fair representation to the Shia Muslim community, which is a smaller group within the larger Muslim community.
He also mentioned that he faced many legal cases while supporting the party, but they didn't support him in return.
He believes this kind of decision is why the party is not doing well.
Abid Abbas Sayyed, General Secretary of Mumbai Youth Congress, resigned from the party.
He alleged that the Congress party ignored the Shia community's claim to Ward 139 in Govandi.
The seat was given to the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) as part of a seat-sharing arrangement.
Sayyed had hoped to field his wife, Nayaab Khan, for the constituency reserved for women.
He accused the party of having an anti-minority mindset and not providing fair representation.
