Delhi Consults PG Operators on Student Housing Regulation

Delhi Consults PG Operators on Student Housing Regulation

Delhi’s government is working on rules for places where students rent rooms, such as paying guest accommodations.

Education Minister Ashish Sood met with people who run these places to hear their views.

The government says student safety and affordable housing are important goals.

The work follows a building collapse in Satya Niketan that killed seven people.

Possible rules include registering each accommodation and checking its safety.

The committee is also considering clearer rental agreements and a way for students to report problems.

It is looking at ways to provide more hostels and student housing.

The committee has 60 days to recommend what should happen.
