Doctors Strike in Himachal Pradesh
Doctors in Himachal Pradesh went on strike because one of their colleagues was fired.
This doctor, Dr. Raghav Narula, had a fight with a patient named Arjun Singh.
A video showed the doctor punching the patient, and the patient kicking the doctor.
Both were found to be at fault.
The doctors are upset and want their colleague to be reinstated.
Because of the strike, many hospitals are not providing regular services, and patients are having a hard time getting treatment.
The doctors say they will only provide emergency services until their demands are met.
Resident doctors in Himachal Pradesh went on an indefinite strike starting December 27, 2025, due to the termination of Dr. Raghav Narula.
The strike was triggered by a physical altercation between Dr. Narula and a patient, Arjun Singh, in the pulmonary ward of IGMC.
Both parties were found at fault by an inquiry committee, with Dr. Narula's actions deemed 'misconduct, misbehaviour and acts unbecoming of a public servant.'
The strike has severely affected medical services, with routine services, elective operation theatres, and outpatient departments closed, except for emergency services.
Patients, especially those from remote locations, are facing difficulties due to the unavailability of doctors, exacerbated by peak winter cold and heavy tourist rush.
