US Iran Sanctions Put India’s Rice, Pharma Exports at Risk

The United States is trying to make it harder for Iran to trade with other countries.

It warned foreign businesses that working with Iran could lead to punishment.

Companies could also lose access to the US banking system.

This may make it harder for India to sell rice, tea and medicines to Iran.

Trade between India and Iran has already fallen since 2019.

That year, the United States ended a special waiver connected to Iranian oil sanctions.

Iran says it will respond to countries that join the campaign.

The dispute could make trade more difficult for both Iran and India.
