Telangana Reserves 85% of Private PG Medical Seats for Locals
Imagine there are special seats for doctors who want to become specialists after their basic medical degree.
These are called postgraduate seats.
In Telangana, many of these special seats in private medical schools were open for doctors from all over India.
Now, the Telangana government has made a new rule.
This rule says that 85 out of every 100 of these special seats will be saved just for students who are from Telangana.
This means local students will have a much better chance to become specialists in their home state.
Only a small number, 15 out of 100, will still be open for doctors from other parts of India.
Telangana government has issued a GO reserving 85% of PG medical seats under Management Quota-1 (MQ-1) for local candidates.
Only 15% of seats in this category will be available to candidates from other states under the All India Quota.
The decision aims to create greater opportunities for Telangana students in postgraduate medical education.
Amendments have been made to the Telangana Private Medical Un-Aided Minority Professional Institutions and Telangana Unaided Non-Minority Professional Institutions Rules.
The move intends to ensure local students benefit from regional representation while allowing a limited share for national aspirants.
