Anakapalle Tribals Campaign for Major Irrigation Tank Status
In Andhra Pradesh, the Gadaba tribe is asking the government to officially call the Kamula Gedda reservoir an important irrigation tank.
This means they want the government to recognize the tank as a major resource.
They formed a group to work together on this in 2022.
They used to get help from the government to raise fish.
But, for four years, they have not received help, and fish production has gone down.
The tribe has filed a complaint to try and get the tank recognized to get help and programs from the government.
Officials checked the tank and confirmed its size.
They hope this change will bring them help.
