Hyrox Athlete Forfeits Beijing Win After Race Contamination

Hyrox Athlete Forfeits Beijing Win After Race Contamination

Joanna Wietrzyk was competing in a difficult Hyrox fitness race in Beijing.

During the race, she became sick and soiled herself.

She continued competing and finished first, even though the track and shared equipment were affected.

Some other athletes said they slipped on the contaminated track.

Many people criticized her decision, especially after she wrote, "A win is a win."

Wietrzyk later apologized to spectators, organizers, athletes, and others who were affected.

She gave up her win and the points she earned in the race.

Hyrox also apologized and changed its rules for handling serious contamination.

Wietrzyk said she would take time away from the sport to focus on her health and family.
