Gillette Allowed to Import Dental Floss Without Medical Device Registration
A court in India said Gillette could get its dental floss.
The government wanted Gillette to register the floss as a medical device, but the court said this wasn't needed because the rule was still new.
The court explained that the rules had not been finalized.
Gillette had already imported the floss before the rules came into effect.
Also, there was no way to register the floss because the correct category wasn't available.
The court ordered officials to let Gillette have the floss.
The Madras High Court ruled in favor of Gillette India Limited.
Gillette was allowed to take possession of imported dental floss.
The dental floss did not need to be registered as a medical device.
The court cited the draft status of the medical device registration rule.
The court noted the registration portal did not have a dental floss option.
