Menendez Brothers' New Trial Denied: Parole Hopes Dashed Again
Imagine two brothers, Erik and Lyle Menendez, who killed their parents a long time ago.
They were hoping to get out of jail early, but a judge said no.
They claimed they were abused and shot their parents in self-defense.
But, the judge didn't think their new evidence changed anything because the murder seemed planned.
This means they won't get a new trial.
They can't get parole either, so they have to wait at least another year and a half for another chance at parole.
Now they hope that the governor will let them out.
L.A. Superior Court Judge denied a new trial for the Menendez brothers.
Decision came after they were denied parole.
Judge rejected new evidence regarding alleged sexual abuse.
Brothers are serving sentences of 50 years to life.
They can petition parole board again in 18 months.
