Assam Government Starts Dredging to Combat Flooding

The government in Assam is starting a project to dig out and deepen three rivers: Namdang, Doikhana, and Danchi.

These rivers have become too shallow, causing nearby land to flood when it rains.

The government has set aside money for this project, and it should be finished in about four months.

The goal is to help local people by stopping their farms from flooding and becoming unusable.

The project includes dredging the rivers and building a protective embankment along another river, which will also prevent flooding in the area.
