Saudi Arabia’s Crude Output Hits 30-Year Low as Rivals Rise

Saudi Arabia’s Crude Output Hits 30-Year Low as Rivals Rise

Saudi Arabia produces a lot of the world’s oil.

After the US-Iran conflict began in February 2026, attacks disrupted some Saudi oil facilities.

Saudi oil production fell to its lowest level since 1990.

An important pipeline was shut down after attacks on September 10.

Saudi Arabia also reduced some oil supplies to customers in India and Europe.

Oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz became much smaller than before the conflict.

Other countries, including the United States and Brazil, produced more oil to help replace some missing supply.

Oil companies also used different export routes and drew on stored oil.

These steps helped make the actual global shortage smaller than the drop in Gulf exports.
