Madhya Pradesh Medical Colleges Lack Seats in High-Demand Specialties

Madhya Pradesh Medical Colleges Lack Seats in High-Demand Specialties

Five older government medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh do not offer advanced training seats in several popular medical specialties.

These specialties include care for newborn babies, children’s brains and digestive systems, and liver diseases.

The colleges are in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Rewa.

Doctors say students strongly want to study these subjects.

Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal has not yet started some courses that were approved by the state.

Officials say colleges need enough specialized teachers before they can receive these seats.

The medical university cannot affiliate courses when the required faculty is missing.

A doctors’ association leader said the government should increase faculty numbers.
