India Sports Budget: Football Funding Slashed, Yoga Receives Major Hike
The Indian government has changed how it spends money on different sports.
Football, a popular sport, now gets much less money, while yoga, an Indian tradition, is getting a big increase.
Yoga is also set to be demonstrated at the Asian Games and may be included in the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
Other sports, like athletics and boxing, also had slight cuts in their funding.
Government funding for football slashed by half.
Yoga receives a nearly 400% increase in funding.
The AIFF's allocation decreased to Rs 8.78 crore.
Yoga's funding is now close to the All India Chess Federation's.
