India's Petrol, Diesel Prices Above ₹100 in Major Cities
On August 3, 2024, the price of petrol in big Indian cities like Delhi and Mumbai was over ₹100 for every litre.
Diesel was cheaper in most places, but Hyderabad had a higher diesel price.
These prices are affected by how much oil costs around the world, how strong the Indian rupee is against the dollar, and taxes that the government adds.
The cost of moving fuel from the refinery to the pump also matters.
In addition, the price of LPG cylinders was cut by about ₹200 from August 1, while the 14‑kg cylinder price stayed the same.
Petrol prices in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Chennai stay above ₹100 per litre.
Diesel prices are below ₹100 in most cities, except Hyderabad (₹103.82) and Mumbai (₹99.82).
Delhi petrol is ₹102.12 and diesel ₹95.20; Mumbai petrol is ₹111.18 and diesel ₹99.82.
Fuel costs are driven by global crude oil prices, the rupee‑dollar exchange rate, and taxes.
Commercial LPG cylinder rates were cut by about ₹200 from August 1, while 14‑kg rates remained unchanged.
