Government to Sell 6% Stake in Bank of Maharashtra

The government of India wants to sell up to 6% of its shares in the Bank of Maharashtra.

This includes selling 5% of the shares and an additional 1% as a green shoe option.

The sale will help the bank meet a rule that says companies must have at least 25% of their shares owned by the public.

The government currently owns 79.60% of the bank.

The bank's stock has gone up a lot in the past few years, from around Rs 9 during COVID-19 to over Rs 57 now.

The bank is doing well, with more profit and better loan quality.

The government expects to make about Rs 2,600 crore from this sale.

The bank is important for small businesses and rural areas in India.

The offer for sale opens for non-retail investors on December 2, 2025, and for retail investors on December 3, 2025.

The floor price for the sale is Rs 54 per share, which is a bit lower than the current market price.
