India Accepts Global Certification for Organic Textile Exports
India is changing the rules for exporting organic clothes.
Now, companies can use standards from a group called GOTS, which checks if clothes are truly organic.
This means it's easier to sell these clothes to other countries.
The government no longer requires a special paper.
Some people worry because the GOTS group is from other countries and India doesn't have its own.
They think this could affect environmental and worker standards in the future.
DGFT clarifies organic textiles are exempt from the NPOP standard.
The DGFT recognizes the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) for textile exports.
Exporters no longer need a government-issued Transaction Certificate (TC) for organic textiles.
This reverses a January order mandating NPOP compliance and TCs.
Experts express concerns about long-term implications of relying on GOTS.
