Parliament Bill Mandates Resignation of Arrested Officials
New laws are being considered in Parliament.
These changes, proposed by Home Minister Amit Shah, require top leaders like the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers to leave their jobs if they are arrested and kept in jail for more than a month due to serious offenses.
The goal is to ensure government officials are trustworthy and act with integrity.
If released from custody, the leaders can potentially return to their position, balancing accountability and fairness.
Home Minister Amit Shah introduced a bill in Lok Sabha on August 20.
The bill, Constitution (103rd) Amendment Bill, focuses on clean governance.
It mandates PMs, CMs, and ministers to step down if arrested for over 30 days.
