Creditors Realized ₹4 Lakh Crore Under IBC

The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) in India helps companies that are in trouble to either recover or be liquidated.

According to a recent report by the Reserve Bank of India, creditors have managed to get back ₹4 lakh crore from these processes up until September 2025.

Since the IBC started in December 2016, there have been 8,659 cases started, and 6,761 of them have been closed.

Out of these, 3,865 companies were saved, and 2,896 were liquidated.

The money realized is about 170% of the liquidation value and 93.79% of the fair value.

The average time taken to resolve these cases is around 603 days, and the cost is about 1.1% of the liquidation value.

The sectors with the most cases are manufacturing, real estate, and construction.
