Child's Efforts Revive Waterhole for Wildlife in Jamshedpur
Sweety, a young girl visiting her grandparents, saw a water crisis affecting wildlife near an elephant sanctuary.
She learned the waterhole dried up due to climate change and human actions like cutting trees and less rainfall.
Determined to help, she researched and found the waterhole was also shallow due to sedimentation.
Sweety organized a cleanup and rainwater harvesting project to refill the waterhole, and collected funds for water tankers with the help of volunteers.
This project helps local wildlife have water.
Sweety observed the lack of water at a waterhole in Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary.
The waterhole had become shallow due to sedimentation and the growth of aquatic plants.
Sweety learned about rainwater harvesting to reduce the burden on freshwater reserves.
A cleanup project was initiated by Sweety and local children.
Funds were raised to hire water tankers to partially replenish the waterhole.
