BRS Candidate's Husband Kidnapped, Released in Nalgonda
A man named Mamidi Yadagiri, who is the husband of a woman running for a local leader position called sarpanch, was allegedly kidnapped.
He disappeared in the morning and called his wife to tell her not to run for the position.
His phone then turned off.
His wife, Naga Lakshmi, thought he was kidnapped by her rivals and still went ahead to file her papers.
Later that night, Yadagiri showed up at the police station, saying he had been freed.
He said he was beaten, threatened, and forced to drink urine.
He also said the police made him say he wasn't kidnapped.
The police say they are investigating what happened.
Mamidi Yadagiri, husband of BRS candidate Mamidi Naga Lakshmi, was allegedly kidnapped to prevent her from filing her nomination for the Yellammagudem sarpanch post.
Yadagiri reappeared at the Thipparthy police station late Saturday night, claiming he was released by his kidnappers.
