Ahmedabad to Utilize 50 Lakes to Manage Monsoon Flooding
Imagine Ahmedabad has a lot of lakes, and when it rains really hard, some areas get flooded.
The city is building special pipes to connect 50 of these lakes.
These pipes will collect the rainwater and send it to the lakes, like giant sponges.
The goal is for the lakes to soak up the extra water, so the streets don't flood as easily.
They have already started on this, and it's all to help make sure the city can handle the heavy rains that come during the monsoon season.
AMC is connecting 50 lakes across Ahmedabad with stormwater lines.
The project aims to use lakes as stormwater sinks during the monsoon.
Projects are ongoing in western and eastern Ahmedabad.
Stormwater infrastructure is already complete for 10 lakes.
The project addresses persistent urban waterlogging issues.
