Harsimrat Badal Hint Rekindles SAD-BJP Alliance Speculation
Harsimrat Kaur Badal is a leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab.
She said that people might soon hear about agreements bringing development from Delhi to Punjab.
She did not name the Bharatiya Janata Party or officially announce a partnership.
Her words made people wonder whether the SAD and BJP might work together again.
The parties were allies for many years but split in 2020 over three farm laws.
Since then, they have contested elections separately.
Some BJP leaders say they are preparing to contest all 117 Punjab Assembly seats.
A new alliance could help both parties, but disagreements over seats and past conflicts could make it difficult.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal hinted at possible future agreements with Delhi without naming the BJP.
She spoke at a Shiromani Akali Dal conference in Longowal marking Sant Harchand Singh Longowal’s 41st martyrdom anniversary.
Speculation grew after SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this month.
The SAD left the National Democratic Alliance in September 2020 over three farm laws that were later repealed.
The BJP has publicly emphasized independent expansion in Punjab, while the SAD has not announced any renewed alliance.
