Manipur CM Calls Teaching National Duty, Urges Peaceful Negotiations

Manipur’s chief minister spoke at a Teachers’ Day event on September 5.

He said teaching is more than a job and is an important responsibility to the country.

He asked teachers to care for all students like members of their own families.

He also talked about the conflict and problems affecting Manipur.

He said peace may be starting to return.

He warned that strikes, protests and blockades can make life harder and damage education and the economy.

He said disagreements should be solved through talks.

A group recently held a strike because it wanted the National Register of Citizens updated before the Census.

The conflict has caused deaths, missing people and homelessness.
