Kashmiri Healthcare Worker Freed in Saudi Arabia

A Kashmiri healthcare worker named Amjad Ali was detained in Saudi Arabia for almost three months after posting a condolence message on Facebook for the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader.

He was taken from his workplace and held without clear charges.

His family and the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) sought help from the Indian government.

The Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Riyadh intervened, ensuring Amjad had legal representation and pressing for his release.

Amjad was finally released and returned home to his family in Baramulla.

The JKSA thanked the government for their timely intervention and praised the media for highlighting the case.
